As in your home, there's a vent stack which allows odors from your black tank to escape into the air above your coach, rather than seep into your living space. Normally these are a no-maintenance item, but very occasionally they may develop a crack if they're under some stress - not perfectly aligned.
If that happens to you and the crack is where you can get to it, you can make a repair by cutting a section out of the PVC pipe and install a length of radiator hose held in place by two clamps.
